Marlborough, Mass. -- Copiun Inc. has raised nearly all of a $1.7 million offering, selling shares for $1.64 million to 20 investors.
Principals named in the filing by the Marlborough, Mass.-based technology company are:
· Co-founder and CEO Puneesh Chaudhry;
· Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Sanjay Jain;
· Director Prashanth Boccasam, of Bethesda, Md.-Novak Biddle Venture Partners; and
· Director Tad Witkowicz of Boston Harbor Angels and HUB Angels;
Copiun, previously known as Sumooh Inc., makes software that helps companies manage endpoint data on mobile devices. The company's chairman, Rob Soni, is a general partner at Matrix Partners, with offices in Boston and Palo Alto, Calif.
Its investors include Boston's Beacon Angels, Hub Angels Investment Group; Race Point Capital Group LLC, Walnut Venture Associates, Launchpad Venture Group and Launch Capital, all based in the New England region; and New York's RRE Ventures;

Puneesh Chaudhry is co-founder and CEO of Copiun. Puneesh co-founded Copiun along with Sanjay Jain with a vision to enable companies to manage their user data - ensuring its safety and ease of access, regardless of whether it lives on the edge of the network or within the datacenter.
Puneesh brings over 10 years of experience in data protection in various technology and business roles. Prior to Copiun, Puneesh was at EMC where he was responsible for strategy, M&A and business operations for EMC's Storage Software Group. Puneesh helped define EMC's data protection and de-duplication strategy, leading key acquisitions and their integration to realize their benefits. Prior to that, Puneesh held various technology and management roles where he led the creation of multiple data protection products from the ground up.
Puneesh holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Delhi College of Engineering and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Sanjay Jain is co-founder and CTO of Copiun, where he is responsible for providing overall technology leadership, managing the engineering team and for delivering a high quality solution. His passion for finding unique and innovative ways to solve challenging problems is evident in Copiun's solution.
Sanjay has over 20 years of software development experience with over 10 years of experience in storage and data protection. Prior to Copiun, Sanjay was lead Architect for Vmware integration into EMC's data protection products. Sanjay also managed many large software development projects onshore and offshore. Earlier in his career, Sanjay was Business Unit Manager at River Run Software Group; Software Consultant at NCR; and Software Engineer at DCM Data System.
Sanjay holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Pune Institute of Computer Technology and a Master of Technology in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur.
Tad Witkowicz is a Member of Boston Harbor Angels and of HUB Angels in Boston. His career spans over 25 years of starting and building high technology companies. From Research Engineer at Bell Northern Research and Valtec earlier in his career to his three successive roles as Founder and CEO of Artel, CrossComm Corporation, and Adlex, all three of which had very successful exits, including 2 IPOs. Since 2005 he has been active as an angel investor and mentor for young entrepreneurs.
Tad has several patents and published numerous technical and business articles. He attended University of Toronto where he received a Masters degree in Physics in 1976.

Prashanth, or "PV", brings over 20 years of operational and executive management experience to Novak Biddle Venture Partners. PV is currently on the boards of Approva, Appfluent, Appian and Centrifuge Systems through investments as a partner at Novak Biddle Venture Partners. He was most recently an investor and co-founder of ClearStandards that was sold to SAP AG in May 2009.
PV was the founder and CEO (2001-2008) of Approva Corporation and helped to make it the gold-standard for how large global companies and their external auditors ensure the strength of their company's internal controls. Approva is backed by marquee venture capital firms including Novak Biddle, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Columbia Capital, and Sierra Ventures with strategic investment from Hyperion/Oracle.
Before founding Approva, PV was co-founder and president (1996-2000) of Entevo, Corp., which was sold to Bindview (now part of Symantec) for $125 million in January 2000. Entevo raised over $25M dollars in venture capital was backed by marquee investors including NEA, Oak Investment Partners, Draper International, FBR Ventures, SAP Ventures and Novak Biddle Venture Partners. Prior to founding Entevo, PV spent several years managing enterprise-class products at Microsoft's Systems Division, and later as a Director in its worldwide consulting services group (MCS).
PV was selected as a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for three consecutive years (2006, 2007, and 2008) for the Greater Washington region. He has also been recognized for building one of the Hottest Management Teams in the Washington DC area by the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the nation's largest technology think tank. PV is as an active board member of TiE-DC, Washington's largest business networking organization, which provides area entrepreneurs with mentorship and support. PV is also the Chairperson of Pratham-DC, India's largest non-governmental educational non-profit group. PV is an investor and advisor in Communikids - Washington DC Metro area's one and only premier bilingual pre-school for children.
