New York, NY (PRWEB) April 13, 2012
Terry City has joined BuzzFeed as Vice President of Sales, West Coast. City was most recently Executive Director of Sales and Strategy for Huffington Post, with a focus on the entertainment industry. Prior to this, he was Strategic Entertainment Accounts Director at Yahoo!
"Social advertising is transforming the way entertainment is marketed. BuzzFeed's rapidly growing audience of 20 Million SuperSharers is always looking to identify and spread engaging content, making the BuzzFeed site and platform the ideal fit for social entertainment advertisers," said City. "I'm excited to work with the team and industry to be part of this major shift to social."
"Terry is a proven sales leader who knows the entertainment industry better than anyone in digital," said Andy Wiedlin, BuzzFeed's Chief Revenue Officer. "The shift to social in editorial and publishing happened very quickly with BuzzFeed as the leader, and I actually believe the shift to social advertising is even more rapid. We're lucky to have Terry join us at this inflection point."
Prior to Huffington Post and Yahoo, City worked in sales leadership roles at the Hollywood Reporter and Variety. He will be based in Los Angeles and staff a full local team to support and service clients.
"Terry is someone I've long wanted to join BuzzFeed," said Jonah Peretti, BuzzFeed Founder and CEO. "He is universally regarded as someone who understands the needs of entertainment advertisers. He's also passionate about and truly gets social. He's the perfect person to work collaboratively with the studios on innovative social advertising programs."
