WhipTail CEO to Demonstrate Best Practice for Flash Storage at Computerworld SNW ConferenceDABCC Apr 04, 2012 Back to press
Dan Crain, CEO of WhipTail, which makes high-performance, cost-effective silicon storage arrays, will represent the all-NAND flash silicon storage segment at the Computerworld SNW conference this week in Dallas, TX, on the panel "Do I Really Need a 100% Flash Array? Why?" Crain will make the case that improving application performance via speed - which has a bottom-line impact for business - should be the #1 motivation for why customers purchase flash storage arrays, not capacity.
"Today IT can only ignore flash technology at its own peril. Done right, it will save your job. Done wrong, it will put your business behind competitively. The panel will discuss where flash fits, when to use all-flash arrays and when to use other incarnations of this incredible technology," said Arun Taneja, founder and consulting analyst, Taneja Group and panel moderator for the SNW Solid State Track, "Do I Really Need a 100% Flash Array? Why?"
Taneja will moderate what is anticipated to be a lively conversation from top executives in the flash storage space - each taking a slightly different approach to solid-state storage solutions. The panel is in the Solid State Storage Track on Wednesday, April 4th at 4:10 p.m.
"WhipTail has recognized that customers not only have to sustain the amount and size of data transacting, but more importantly the speed at which that data can move. It has bottom-line implications for their business," said Dan Crain, CEO, WhipTail. "We always pose the question: why would a customer make a purchasing decision putting maximum performance at a disadvantage? In our experience, they don't, and we're very excited to say that before the second half of 2012 we will launch our second-generation products that will satisfy scale and capacity demands using 100 percent NAND flash arrays - it will be market moving."
Produced by Computerworld and co-owned by Computerworld and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), SNW is the leading global event series focused on technologies to manage and optimize the information infrastructure across the data center and remote offices - from compute to network to storage. Throughout this four-day conference, attendees from major public and private sector organizations will learn about the latest user successes and challenges, products, tools, services and training across these technologies. WhipTail commercialized the first NAND Flash Silicon Storage Array (SSA) which dramatically improves application performance while consuming less energy than legacy storage arrays. Installed worldwide, WhipTail's SSAs enable databases, virtualized and online environments to process more data in significantly less time. WhipTail's customers experience substantial operational improvements because data processing time shrinks from days to hours or hours to minutes.
